Divorce was never an option for Reba McEntire.
“The divorce was not my idea. I didn’t want it in any shape, form or fashion,” the country singer revealed to CMT’s Cody Alan on Tuesday. “So, it was really hard to make the adjustment when someone’s not happy. I just want everybody to be happy in their lives, because our lives are too short to be miserable.”
In August, McEntire, 60, and husband Narvel Blackstock announced their separation after 26 years of marriage. While the couple finalized their divorce on Oct. 28, Narvel, who is also McEntire’s manager, moved on to another woman in January.
“It was a bombshell. No one saw it coming,” an insider told Page Six in January.
Not only has McEntire relied on a higher power to help her cope, she’s also sought solace from family and friends.
“The thing that got me through this change in life, is number one, God,” McEntire shared. “I prayed every day to help me have the strength to move one foot in front of the other, and continue on with what I’m supposed to be doing … and then with my team … my friends, my family, my girlfriends.”
“You know, you just got to have a great team of people around you that you love, and they love you, and I’m very blessed to have those people,” she added. “I thank God for it all.”
